The newest & hippest disco bar in Zhuhai: Bar 88

29 April 2011

88 Bar’ or ‘Bar 88’ is one of the newest and hippest spots on Zhuhai’s famous Bar Street. With Western Saloon style decor, regular live performers and excellent service, we are sure this bar is here to stay! The only bad thing to say about 88 is that there is no real dance floor, rather a few small areas where up to 15 or 20 people can dance if they don’t mind getting up close and personal!

This venue has a very classic feel and offers an eclectic selection of karaoke rooms catering to different customers; it’s also one of the more upscale bar venues in the district. The place is decorated to integrate both Eastern and Western styles – going for that overall feel of being both grand and trendy. Their karaoke rooms provide visitors with a variety of choices that range from different themes to deluxe and VIP; each of the rooms are fitted with the best entertainment and karaoke-singing equipment. This is a bar that caters more to expats and foreign visitors; prices are also on the upper-end scale – expect to pay around 300 -400 RMB/person.

Get to the club early or call ahead to reserve a table. You will need to buy a bucket of beers or a bottle of spirits to get a table, but if there is more than three or four of you, then this makes sense.

Any time you want a break from the lively atmosphere to rest your dancing legs or have a quieter talk with friends, head on out to the terrace area, where you will find tables with umbrellas (perfect for all weather!) and computers with Internet Access at your disposal.

Address for foreigners: “Joo Hai Shuh, Schway Wan (rhymes with ‘Can’) Loo, Joe Bah Jieer, Ehr Buy Eee How”  …is how we would say it. Here’s the pinyin too: Zhu Hai Shi, Sui Wan Lu, Jiu Ba Jie, 201-209 hao

Most taxi drivers will know where to go if you say “Joe Bah Jieer” (pinyin – ‘Jiu Ba Jie’). When you get onto Bar Street, simply say “Bah Sheh Bah Bah” (pinyin – ‘Ba Shi Ba Ba’) – meaning ’88 Bar’ and you will be dropped off on the cross-road at the end of Bar Street. Bar 88 is right on the corner!

Air Asia low cost airline… the best way to move in South East Asia

28 August 2009

Air_Asia_new_logoI recently discovered Air Asia and from that moment I always take it when I fly in South East Asia especially on routes between Macau and Hong Kong to Bangkok. But I know that also other countries as Malaysia and Indonesia are very well connected. The service is fantastic, on time and is the cheapest way to move. It is easy to book on line and very cheap especially if you depart from Macau airport (MFM). If you depart from Guangdong I suggest to embark in Macau from where you can reach 4 destinations in Malaysia and Bangkok. From HKG and Guangzhou (CAN) there are fewer destinations and flights and is more expensive.

Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand together with China are the most connected destinations. Visit the website on and check if your favorite destination is available. Book easily on line and then take off with one of the new Airbus 319 that Air Asia has in the fleet for the middle range.

Here are some more news about the company. AirAsia
The leading low fare airline in the Asia – AirAsia has been expanding rapidly since 2001, to become an award winning and the largest low cost carrier in Asia. With a fleet of 72 aircrafts, AirAsia flies to over 61 domestic and international destinations with 108 routes, and operates over 400 flights daily from hubs located in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. AirAsia believes in the no-frills, hassle-free, low fare business concept and feels that keeping costs low requires high efficiency in every part of the business. Efficiency creates savings which are then passed on to guests so that affordable air travel can become a reality. Through its philosophy of ‘Now Everyone Can Fly’, AirAsia has sparked a revolution in air travel with more and more people around the region choosing AirAsia as their preferred choice of transport.

Peccati di Gola – Italian restaurant in Zhuhai (China)

3 July 2009

Where to go to eat “real” Italian food when you are in Guangdong province in China? For sure Peccati di Gola in Zhuhai city is the top choice. Managed by two Italian guys: Simone manages the service and welcomes the guests while Stefano is in the kitchen.

Starting with Parmigiana (eggplants) or the typical Italian raw ham and cheese is just the first step. As main course, we suggest the Italian pasta that is served “al dente” with different typical sauces (Carbonara, Amatriciana, Bolognese). As alternative we suggest the pizza that is one of the best you can find outside Italy. We personally suggest with ham and mushrooms top even if the real Italian pizza is the Margherita. Panna Cotta and Tiramisu are the best choice for dessert.
